ABOUT US
I have been interested in art since childhood and have taken art classes in various media, including glass bead-making, silversmithing, drawing, painting, woodcarving, and many others. Then in 1997 I took a metal clay class and a glass fusing class. At that point I realized I could use all of my various artistic talents to make jewelry. I have continued to take a variety of jewelry-making classes, finally becoming an Art Clay World Senior instructor in 2003.
For several years I was a part-time jewelry artist and a full-time corporate employee. Then in 2007, I left the corporate world and began to focus full-time on creating unique glass and fine silver jewelry. These creative endeavors now take place in my studio which is part of the Studio School & Gallery in historic Irvington on Indianapolis’ eastside.
In addition to creating jewelry, I also enjoy sharing my talents and skills with others; I teach classes in basic jewelry-making, glass fusing and metal clay. My teaching schedule includes classes at my studio and various other sites in central Indiana.
I market my jewelry and classes under the name Magickal Dragon Designs. This name came about because I think that shaping glass and silver with fire is a magical process -- and isn’t a dragon the perfect source of magical fire?
The rest of the family… I share my household with with my daughter Tina, a full-time college student, and two very spoiled cats, Isis and Cordelia. Tina is also very artistic. She loves glass fusing, although her busy schedule precludes her from doing much right now. However, sometimes she joins me at shows and occassionally teaches a fused glass class.
